Pike Attacking at Range
Under Equipment on page 20, the entry for Pikes states in part the following in discussing their ability to attack at range:
Can be used to attack passed allies although as normal, an ‘In The Way’ test must be made if the bearer is not in base contact with the ally in question.
This is unclear to me. What is a "passed" ally? In addition, I am not sure how the "In The Way" test would work in this situation.

Hi Kenntak, This is saying, if you have 3 ranks of pikemen in base contact with each other for example, if a warrior in rank 2 thrusts their pike, they can perform the loose action without any risk of hitting the warrior in rank 1 so can thrust through them. If a warrior in rank 3 attempts to thrust their pike, they risk hitting the warrior in rank 1 as they aren't in direct base contact with them so would have to make an in the way check against the rank 1 warrior.
Apologies I think I used the wrong word there.
